Art and Design INSET Days for Primary and Infant Schools

PrintV_A If you are interested in an INSET day or twilight session it can be tailor made to suit your school’s needs.

INSET sessions may focus on:

Drawing, colour mixing and painting, printmaking – paper block, polystyrene two colour or repeat, claywork – 3D, use of sketchbooks, developmental stages of children’s art making, levels of expectation in art and design, consultancy for curriculum planning for art and design

E.g. An Inset day on drawing and painting in the primary school might include:

Illustrated talk:

  • Units of work in art and design which exemplify strong drawing and painting
  • Levels of expectation in drawing and painting
  • Subject matter/ stimulus for drawing and painting
  • Use of sketchbooks
  • Display

Practical workshops:

  • Learning about the range of drawing media
  • Making a drawing
  • Colour mixing and exploring painting technique and skills
  • Managing painting in the primary classroom
  • Making a painting and good practice in teaching painting to primary children

We usually work with up to 24 staff and bring all art materials and resources. Inset sessions are lead by Trilby Lawlor.
