Painting – a Gifted and Talented art class in action KS2

The VLF made a research visit to Japan in 1998 to gain ideas about aspects of Japanese art that would appeal to UK children. This was with a view to publishing new art curriculum projects inspired by Japan.

This short film shows a class of 8 – 10 year olds in the final session of one of the many projects piloted by the VLF in London schools.

The VLF’S Japan project 1998 – 2001 was kindly funded by The Daiwa Foundation and The Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation

 

Fans, Screens and Neon Lights – VLF Children’s Art Exhibition at the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew

A summary of the VLF’s exhibition for the UK wide festival Japan 2001

The exhibition was held at the White Peaks Gallery at the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew throughout the summer of 2001. The exhibition consisted of hundreds of images from Japanese art projects piloted by the VLF in London primary schools between 1998 – 2001

The Visual Learning Foundation was awarded the top award for promoting Japanese art and culture in the UK at the Japan Festival Awards 2001
